Waste Pro’s Moore Elected to Community College Board

MERIDIAN, MS  September 9, 2013 —The Lauderdale County Board of Supervisors has appointed Waste Pro Municipal Marketing Representative, Jimmie Moore, to the East Mississippi Community College Board of Trustees, through April of 2015.  

East Mississippi Community College is a public community college serving six counties in East Central Mississippi, with its main campus located in Scooba, MS. An additional campus is located in Mayhew, MS, with extension centers at the Meridian Naval Air Station, the Columbus Air Force Base, and in West Point, MS.  The campuses serve a combined enrollment of more than 5,000 students  and has seen continued enrollment increases due in part to a district-wide tuition guarantee program instituted in April 2009. 

Born and raised in Meridian, MS, Moore spent three years as the County Administrator for the Kemper County Board of Supervisors and his relationship with East Mississippi Community College is deeply rooted.  He was the Chief Financial Officer for the institution for more than sixteen years and is honored to be serving in this new capacity.  Moore has been with Waste Pro since 2010 and currently handles municipal and governmental relations in the Mississippi and Northern Alabama region.

Waste Pro Growth Recognized, Locally, Statewide, Nationally

Longwood, FL-September 2, 2013- The continued and strategic growth of Waste Pro, a privately owned solid waste company, has been recognized this year by local, state and national organizations, positioning the company as one of the industry’s national leading businesses.   

Nationally, Waste 360 (formerly known as Waste Age magazine) rankings, revealed Waste Pro is the 5th largest privately owned waste service firm in the United States and 13th overall, in the annual Top 100 Industry Players survey.  Additionally, Waste & Recycling News ranked Waste Pro the 6th largest private waste hauling and disposal firm and 12th overall nationally.

Waste Pro Presents First Safety Awards in Asheville, NC

ASHEVILLE, NC July 27th  – In an industry where more than 6000 accidents involving a solid waste truck occur every year, safety is paramount.  In an effort to reduce the number of such incidents and reward employees for responsible behaviors, Waste Pro instituted a high profile Safety Award Program in 2004.

Last month, Waste Pro garbage truck drivers, Robbie Osborne and Timmothy Morrow, were the latest recipients of the $10,000 Safety Award, earned for flawless performance over the last three years.  Unique to the waste collection and disposal industry, Waste Pro’s Safety Program has distributed more than $650,000 in Safety Awards to their drivers, since 2004.  

These are the first Safety Awards presented at this location since the location was established in 2010 and brings the total number of awards in North Carolina to three.  In May, Waste Pro presented its first Safety Award for North Carolina at the Concord location.  The Awards were presented by Division Manager, Roland Joyner, and Regional Vice President, Bob ten Haaf.

In order to receive the Safety Award, employees must have a spotless work record for three years, including excellent customer service, no accidents or injuries, a positive attendance record, and no property damage, along with a well-kept truck and a positive attitude.

$40,000 in Safety Awards Goes to Gautier, MS Employees

GAUTIER, MS June 19th – Waste Pro recognized its first four Safety Award recipients in the Mississippi Gulf Coast area at a celebration on June 13th.  Calvin Anderson, David Myles, Nelson Ross, Sr., and Con Sistrunk were each presented with a $10,000 Safety Award for flawless performance over the last three years.  The awards were presented by Waste Pro President and CEO John Jennings at a celebration at Waste Pro’s Gautier, MS office.

In order to receive the Safety Award, employees must have a spotless work record for three years, including excellent customer service, no accidents, injuries, or property damage, and they must maintain a positive attitude and attendance record, along with a well-kept truck.

Waste Pro Hires Industry Safety Veteran, Larry Stone

LONGWOOD, FL May 7th – Waste Pro has announced the addition of industry safety leader Larry Stone as Regional Safety Director in Central Florida.  After spending more than 40 years in the industry, Stone’s new role at Waste Pro will consist of overseeing the safety practices and procedures of the Central Florida and Northeast Florida divisions. 

 Stone is a member of the National Solid Waste Management Association’s national safety committee, dedicated to developing the industries “Best Practices”. Having spent 25 years with Rumpke Consolidated Companies in Ohio,  he, in 2004, received the National Solid Wastes Management Association (NSWMA) Member of the Year Award for his dedication to safety and for development of the “Slow Down To Get Around” campaign. This pioneering safety program is currently in place in hundreds of municipalities around the world, including Cincinnati, Dallas and New York.  

 A native of Ohio, Stone has ventured into other public service positions throughout his career, including Fire Fighter/EMT and Police Officer.  Additionally, he served as Vice President and President of the local business association for more than 10 years.

Waste Pro’s CNG Facility Honored with Golden Hammer Award (3/18/2013)

FORT PIERCE, FL March 18th – Waste Pro’s recently opened Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) fueling facility was presented with the Mayor’s Golden Hammer Award in downtown Fort Pierce at the monthly Coffee with the Mayor on March 15th

The award is presented annually, in March and September, in recognition of residents and business owners in the Fort Pierce area who have made significant construction or rehabilitation improvements to their locations. 

 Waste Pro’s CNG facility officially opened its doors in August of last year.  The first of its kind in the area, the facility boasts more than twenty thousand square feet of administrative and operational space, spanning approximately seven acres.  Able to fuel eighty CNG vehicles at full capacity simultaneously, the facility is currently providing refueling for Waste Pro’s CNG fleet of more than 70 solid waste and recycling vehicles, in addition to the ability to refuel compatible municipal vehicles. 

 The $15 million project was the first phase of Waste Pro’s $100 million investment towards the transition to CNG fueling.  Construction will begin on similar facilities in additional Waste Pro locations, including Jacksonville, Daytona, and Palm Coast, later this year.   

“This facility is a great source of pride for Waste Pro and we feel honored to have this level of environmental commitment recognized by Mayor Hudson,” said Waste Pro Regional Vice President, Russell Mackie.

Pembroke Pines Selects Waste Pro as New Service Provider

PEMBROKE PINES, FL March 5th – The City of Pembroke Pines, by a 5-0 vote, selected Waste Pro as its new solid waste and recycling service provider on February 6th.  The five year contract includes residential service to more than 40,000 homes and approximately nine hundred commercial businesses.  

Beginning June 1st, Waste Pro will provide Pembroke Pines residents twice per week garbage collection and once per week recycling collection services.  Additionally, bulk items and yard waste will be collected twice per month.  Service schedules will remain the same, with Waste Pro providing new recycling carts to each resident. 

 “As a business resident of the City of Pembroke Pines, we are excited to be able to provide service to a community that we currently live and work in. With the addition of Pembroke Pines, we now service three of the four largest cities in Broward County and we are very proud of the partnership with the City,” said Waste Pro Regional Vice President, Russell Mackie.

Residents will also see the implementation of a new Household Hazardous Waste Collection program. This program will consist of monthly Hazardous Waste Collection at Waste Pro’s Pembroke Pines location, conducted on the first Sunday of every month from 8 a.m until 4 p.m. for City Residents.  Additional collection sites and dates will be announced in the near future.

Forrest County Reduces Garbage Rates with Selection of Waste Pro

FORREST COUNTY, MS January 28th – Forrest County Supervisors announced on December 20th the acceptance of a new solid waste bid from Waste Pro, resulting in savings for Forrest County residents.

Beginning February 1st, Forrest County’s current garbage service subscribers will see the new rate of $11.65 per month, per household, which will be billed to customers on a quarterly basis.  This new rate includes collection of one garbage container per household.  Additional containers will be serviced for an added cost of $7.00 per container, per household.

“We are excited to show the residents of Forrest County the level of superior customer service Waste Pro is known for.  We intend to do everything within our power to ensure a smooth transition,” said Waste Pro Division Manager, Reggie Collier. The new service contract is for a term of five years, with the option of a one year renewal, and includes once per week service.

Residents will continue to use their current garbage containers provided by the previous solid waste company.  New subscription customers will be provided with one Waste Pro garbage container at no additional charge.  Current service days and routes will remain the same.  However, garbage collection times may vary.
