Waste Pro USA Safety Awards: Garbage Truck Drivers Pick-Up $50,000

Five Waste Pro garbage truck drivers each received a $10,000 check for safe driving Thursday, December 30th, during a ceremony at Waste Pro’s Daytona Beach Division.  Checks were presented by John J. Jennings, President & CEO of Waste Pro USA.

This Safety Program is unique to the waste collection and disposal industry. “Each driver has performed flawlessly for three years with no tickets, accidents or complaints.” said Tim Dolan, Regional Vice President for Central Florida.

Waste Pro continues efforts to keep bears out of trash

Keeping garbage out of the paws of bears has been a little easier for some folks in Franklin and Wakulla counties in the Panhandle, thanks to Waste Pro.  In June 2009, the company purchased 200 bear-proof containers to help residents keep trash away from bears and other wildlife. Waste Pro soon found the demand for the cans far outstripped what it had to offer, so it recently ordered an additional 200 bear-proof cans, which are now available to residents.

“All they promised they would do, they did” says Cape Coral Procurement Manager Mark Thiele. Waste Pro was selected to provide garbage and recycling service to the City’s 168,000 citizens this year. The new contract required distributing 140,000 carts during the switch from manual to automated service for residential service and meeting the needs of 2,600 commercial customers.
